Snowdrops droop shyly,
Exhausted from flaunting
Their virgin whiteness.
Soft, lucid primroses -
Children waiting to be heard.
Yellow gorse stars prick
Against their dark green night.
Daffodils raise arrogant
Golden trumpets - bright warning
To naked blackthorns,
Bastions of retreating winter.
