Watching As She Dreams

Princess in her tower,
Waiting for her prince,
Watching days turn into nights,
Watching months turn into years.

Hiding in the shadows,
Afraid to see the light,
Hiding in her dreams,
Afraid of real life.

Painting picture perfect places,
Telling stories in her head,
Watching the seasons pass her window,
Watching everyone else slowly move on.

Sometimes you’ll hear her singing,
Of all the things she’ll do,
When that someone comes to help her,
To remove the lock she placed long ago.

Sometimes you’ll see her staring,
For she is far away,
In the world she’s been creating,
Where she’s living all alone, spending day after day.

She doesn’t seem to realize,
That soon her time will end,
She just watches as the sun sets,
Watching as her prince never comes.
