The presents are all opened,
The excitement passed away.
The chance to spy on Santa Claus,
Was early yesterday.
Today we got up slowly,
As we caught up on our sleep.
The kids are busy with their gadgets,
None have even made a peep.
Today we're sitting in our PJ's,
That's all we plan to do.
Until we go to Mam and Dads,
To eat another meal or two.
Outside the rain drops are falling,
One by one they fill the sky.
The daylight turns to darkness,
As the endless clouds pass bye.
The ground is truly sodden now,
The floods begin to show.
And just like many Christmases,
This one passes without snow.
So we're dancing in the puddles,
Instead of snowball fights.
Splashing round the streets of town,
Beneath the footpath lights.
Then we huddle round the fireplace,
To dry, and warm our bones.
We grab a box of chocolates,
And play with mobile phones.
We catch up, watching Sky TV,
Something festive, full of cheer.
Whilst pondering, inside our mind,
Our resolutions, for the coming Year.
Then we sit around the table,
To eat, with family and friends.
Before the kids go on the Xbox,
Fall out, then make amends.
We pull the Christmas crackers,
Laugh at jokes that just aren't funny.
And try our best to not be stressed,
About how now, we've got no money.
As long as kids are happy,
With their hearts all full of Joy.
And there's a smile on every face,
Of every girl and boy.
We can say that it's been perfect,
In a certain kind of way.
In this Festive season,
On this years Boxing day.
