Thoughts from a cluttered space

Strange business, this
of knowing each other only through the words we post
Like the Radio Hams of old, tapping out their thoughts in Morse
Yet, I felt I knew you well
Your call-sign so familiar in those solitary nights
lit only by the glow of apparatus; your sign-off a window to your soul
Our world is more than virtual
The medium’s barely half of it, contributing nothing more
than Morse key, mast and dial did in those lonely corners
We feel each other’s lives
in the naked lines of desperation, hope and escape
And in the reading and support of people we call friends
Our words are our bond

Very appropriate poem after the loss of a familiar and well enjoyed writer, who we knew only through abctales. You have summed up the connections we can feel and the loss we feel so well!
