"I've done some research about The Sausage Dog Today," Ella said. "Their registered office is a front, a warehouse in London. The same address is home to 273 registered companies."
"So they could be based anywhere."
"I think I've found out where they're really based. A friend of mine works for a private detective, and he knows how to track down these trails."
"So where then?"
"Number three."
"Number three? Number three what?"
"I mean number three in this street."
"You mean the house opposite."
"Yes, only if you look the front room is clearly converted to a home office."
"Have you seen who lives there?
"No, but why would we. We're here to work, not spy on our neighbours. There's nobody there at the moment though."
"We should keep watch on the house. We can set up a desk there easily enough."
"Already done. David's watching them."
As Ella spoke David rushed in.
"Tony, Ella, come quick like. There's a woman come of number 3 walking a sausage dog.
"It's not anyone I recognise", said David, "And I thought I knew every sausage dog owner in town."
Tony looked through the window. I recognise them," he said. "It's Julie. And Tony."
"Tony? You mean Beryl's boyfriend."
"Yes. We were looking for a mole and now we've found it. It's me."
