Rourke's Rift

Do your stones and ore weigh you down?
Your fortune perfume sap your core?
Your trickling money sucks their wealth.
Fear of voting clarity in their fading health.
Turning and tuning to cheer your occasion.
Flags waving with empty shallow motions.
Uniforms ensure the frowning faces hide.
Waiving their promises as you take them aside.
Armored conceit sure the status quo won't fail.
Ballots clicking in time to the tune of the Daily Mail.
Expecting an outrageous demeanor
means accepting your duplicitous behavior.
Were you even there when this all started?
Before the Halycon days they all hark back to.
Russian scandal hiding what the plan was holding,
Before the ideas took hold and morals corroded.
Analysed through Cambridge eyes,
laser-guided target skill.
Carefully curated division and half lies
Deliver the desired vote, the will of the people.
Is the luxury worth the creeping dangers?
Nothing is fearful when nothing is lost.
Does a stroll relax when surrounded by muscle?
Does sleep come easy with your conscience loud?
