See yourself
in that pool of light,
sparkling,
reflecting the brilliant sunshine
which warms your neck.

A race amongst ripples,
they chase each other like children.
Their gurgling laughter
reflects your nagging nerves.
Should

dare to welcome that reflection?
The man who is taller,
lighter, calmer,
who wears a whisper of serenity?

Admist sprinkles of luminance,
the ripples rush forward
embracing their future.
And with a gush,
your hard soled boot

presses them flat
as you cross
into the pool,
into the reflection
and across.
