I'll say more about her

and it was a 2-sheet letter
written in blue ballpoint pen
with an elegant long hand script
tall and slanting slightly to the right.

Her pen was blue. Blue as the sky above
and azure as the horizontal lines
on the pages of the school notebook
she was writing on.

She looked remarkably neat
and despite her light pullover showing
Broken and mended threads, her white
Lace blouse was ironed as if

It just came out the Laundromat.

I could tell somehow she managed.
Next to her a drinking & a spray bottle
were meant to cool her
on this hot day with summer near.

Her mattress,
A thrice-folded corrugated cardboard.
Her blanket,
A garish pink purple coat.

She wrote and wrote and kept writing
Never all that time looking up once
Yet knowing
I was covertly observing her.
