Charlie's Dream

Charlie was a clown,
With big flat shoes and yellow laces
And too big shorts coloured brown,
Held up high with bright red braces
Charlie was a clown,
He always smiled, making faces
But deep inside he wore a frown
For Charlie wasn't going places
Charlie dreamed of horses
And being a cowboy dressed in red
Chasing wild and crazy horses
And wearing cowboy boots to his bed
He dreamed of stirrups on his heels
A lasso slung across his arm
And riding off across the fields
Surveying this - his own grand farm
All day long he smiled at strangers faces
A painted smile of red and white
And all day long he dreamed of going places
And dreamed that one day he just might.
