loved the world
stood and stared 
at the planet
held tight 
in his hands 
'don't drop us
we're fragile!'
a gaunt woman 
screamed
'my children are 
hungry
they'll die
won't you please . . .
do something
don't stand there
I'm down on
my knees
I've loved you
forever
will you help us,
. . . please?'
 
the man who so
loved the world
gave a frown
as he stood there
and spun it
around
'don't drop us
we're damaged'
a veteran 
said
'we're worn out
from world wars
a billion now
dead
is there no
end
to this awful
bloodshed?
I wish you'd
do something
some peace
now, instead?'
 
the man who so
loved the world
shed a tear
as he heard all
their worries,
and fears
'it seems like
a long time 
since I've shown
my face'
said the man 
who created
the whole human
race
'but I'm back now
to give you
some words of 
advice
please listen
I beg you
I won't say it 
twice'
 
just then an
old man
happened along, 
‘those commandments
of yours, bud?
you told them
all wrong
you shoulda
told folks
what to do
in a song
those ten are
too stuffy
they’re outta here,
gone!
 
just tell it like this:
 
never do what
you don't want
done to you
and if it don’t
feel good
just give it
the boot
 
stop hating 
people and
don't point the
blame
what makes us
unique is 
we're not 
all the same
 
we're all different
colors and sizes
and such
and some people
think that's a 
little too much
 
but I say, 
screw 'em!
we're a pretty
good bunch,
and if they don't 
like it?
they can all take
a plunge!
 
what causes
problems is 
ego and greed
avoid all those
people that beg
you and plead:
'please vote for me!
and I'll set 
you free!'
 
oy!
 
just think for yourself
you’re the best judge
of you
and don't let nobody
say it ain't true
 
and love what
you do have
and not what you
ain't 
and don’t be a martyr 
and don’t be a saint
 
just be who you are
don’t be who you ain’t
and, please. . . 
feed the hungry
and please give a damn
about your own country
before it goes. . . bam!
 
could happen
 
so get out of bed 
and get off the couch
take your eyes off 
that screen
and get out of the house
 
that’s a a wrap
now, go out and do like I said

don't be a martyr and don't be a saint. I ain't, but you know I know see things with an unearthly glow. Your words light a fire. Let's not retire till we see it through. What kind of strage crew must we muster. You told it like it is buster!

thanks, celtic. I hope it read all right. i wrote it as a sort of rant meant to be sung.  then I got long winded. i'm going to make the attempt anyway. I've got the tune in my head and should do it before I lose it.
