A young girl, lets call her Amy, was being taken to a film premiere by her parents as a birthday treat. Her younger brother would was also going. Amy spent weeks preparing to go reading about the stars that would attend and ensuring she had the special outfit. At last the day arrived. The family of 4 arrived early to ensure they had a good view of the red carpet and all the stars. Thousands of people turned up to see the famous people walk down the red carpet. Cheering started as the first VIP's arrived. Amy her brother and parents cheered along with the crowd clapping and straining to see who was next to arrive. A young model slowly got out of her stretch limo. Amy recognised her as she was the face of a well known fashion chain. People shouted and screamed. Amy heard another noise above the cheering people, this noise sounded like her cat when it got its tail caught in the garden chair last year. A very high pitched scream that got louder and louder as the model got closer to where Amy was standing. Amy looked around to see if anyone else had noticed the screaming, no, everyone was clapping and talking to their neighbour about the stars. She looked at her mother who at the same time looked back at Amy. Her mother had tears in her eyes. Amy put her hands over her ears to muffle the screaming. Her mother grabbed her hand and pulled Amy out of the crowd. Before she took her eyes away from the model Amy notice blood on the red carpet where the models coat had dragged along the ground.
Amy and her mother found some space away from the crowd. Under the street lamp they found a bench empty except for a lady in a long silver dress. Amy's mother asked the lady if it was ok to sit down along side her for a while. As they sat down the lady asked them what was happening. Amy looked at the lady whose hair was beautiful shining golden under the lamp light, she explained the screaming that she had heard and the blood on the carpet. The lady nodded wisely and looked at Amy's mother, and told Amy that she was part of the new generation. It is people like you that can see through the fur coats to the animal's suffering she said. The lady stood up and walked away to another bench where another young person was sat crying on his mothers shoulder.
Amy grew up and produced the kill fur coat campaign. But some ignorant people still think it is glamorous to wear dead animals.
