Welcome to
the white-walled
curing and killing grounds
of American capitalism:

opulent room service,
urinal fumes,
and the fair but fractaled forms
of full-figured nurses in black blouses
making ant-like patterns
around the skeletons
in the beds...

these
(lost in roses and liminal light)
are but passingly aware of
the flashing, screeching machines,
the i.v. chains,
and the professionally concerned touch
of frequently sanitized hands
