ode to video-gaming

It's brain-building,
fantasy,
and digital therapy
I like primitive out-dated war-games myself:
mutant ninja turtles
slashing and jump-kicking their way
through tripped out levels
(eating pizza for energy,)
Mario, Toad, Princess, and Yoshi
dodging Bowser's fire-balls
or zooming about in mini-cars
Zelda's Link in his green cloak:
high strategy and problem-solving
mixed with thrilling battle,
and a hint of psychedelia
PACMAN machines that,
with some ice-cold beer,
make a pizza parlour a paradise
But I dig the new school too:
surfing virtual waves,
trick-dancing down snowy mountains,
flying a spit-fire in "the battle for Britain,"
or being part of an e-farm community
And much more is possible,
and happening I'm sure:
though imagination and creativity
are harder to come by than high technology
