An Open Letter to Chris Matthews of MSNBC

I grew up and live in Klamath Falls, Oregon, a working city known for backwards, conservative politics and dominated by a highly political billionaire. We have lots of minorities(blacks, latinos, and Native Americans) but they're mostly marginalized living in a ghetto section of town. I live in the other section of town and(though I have in the past,) don't know many local minorities. But I'm guessing that the election of a black liberal to the presidency has been inspiring for them, and I know it's likely to bring them health-care and economic aid some need just to survive.
Me, I'm a university educated, world-travelled young blonde man who considers himself a progressive. I've been close and trusted my very life to people of many races(from blacks to Thais.) Y hablo espanol y tengo amigos mexicanos.
I remember in the dark days of the W. administration, I heard there was a progressive on TV: Chris Matthews and took heart. That was probably true at the time and a good thing.
But I've been watching your show lately, and I'm dissapointed. You are discouraging people from believing in egalitarian progress and that America can be better than the reactionary empire it's largely been in recent decades.
Chris, progressives are not running for cover. We're kicking ass and taking names. Neither the Democratic party nor Obama is perfect, but they represent progress. I especially say this of the Obama administration, which is easily the best presidency we've had since John Kennedy(much better than that reactionary lunatic Reagan, who certain talking heads generously say he might be like.)
Please get back on the ball, Chris
