Time Held

I don't (and can't) write poetry. My writing class exercise this week, write a poem about something precious to you!!!
This is my attempt, is it poetry?
A moment encapsulated, preserved
Amber holding a life once lived
So with these images.
Edges have become indistinct,
Lives blurred by lost memories.
Colours desaturated or absent
Only adding to the mystery.
What thoughts lie behind,
Hidden by enigmatic half smiles.
Time held in a seamless bubble.
Past and future of no importance
The here and now sheltered,
Protected, to be rediscovered
And cherished, saved for the future.

Definitely poetry, Lindy.
Definitely poetry, Lindy. 'desaturated colours' is really visual. Hope you've opened the poetic vein and start going wild.

Hi LIndy
Hi LIndy
I too find poetry hard to write, and am not sure if I ever manage to achieve what poetry is supposed to do. But this is a lovely little poem. I like the idea of a moment being like preserved amber. It is sort of like writing of any kind - one tries to encapsulate a thought or a story, hoping that someone in the future will find it and feel it was worthy of being saved.
