ON THE OTHER SIDE
A shy, bright sun
Boldly coming out
Here
Clouds engulfing
And a shy
Sun struggling
To come out
On the other side
Water, trickling
Down the hill
Here
Water, plenty of it
Gushing
On the other side
Beautiful buildings and
Manicured lawns
Here
Dry and patchy grass and
Shanty towns
On the other side
The sun is universal
How come, it is bold
Here?
But shy
On the other side?
People, T-shirtless
Enjoying
The Warm,bold
And bright sunshine
Here
Clouds and chilly
Wind reign
On the other side
High rise and high
Tech hospitals
With professional doctors
Here
Ramshackle buildings with
Volunteer doctors
On the other side
Pharmacies with assorted
and life-saving medicines
Here
Trickles of tablets
Not enough for the
Millions sick old people
Women and children
On the other side
Purpose built high schools
And very well equipped
Universities
With millions of Students
Running around
Here
Warehouse like
Buildings housing
Students and pupils
Hungry to learn
On the other side
Detached houses
With beautiful
Fences, front and
Back gardens
Here
Bull dozed abodes
Tents,ruined houses and
New walls going
Far and wide
On the other side
Line of terraced houses
and villas with
Open spaces
Here
Crowded abodes, tents
Card board & pretend houses
Houses encircled
By concrete walls
On the other side
Uprooted grapes
Oranges and
Olive trees
Here
Lush green fields
And tree lined streets
On the other side
Swimming pools
Fountains and
Plenty of water
To wash cars
and water gardens
Here
Droplets and
Trickles of water
Just enough for
Drinking and cooking
On the other side
Long queues to cross
Borders to vist
relatives or
See a doctor
Here
No border checks
No queues but
Leisurely drive
On beautiful
asphalt roads
On the other side
Fenced green
Tennis courts
Here
Children playing ball
In a small space
In between ruined houses
On the other side
Who are these people?
Afflicted with such pain
They are the people
Who reside
In a place called PALESTINE
