VISIT TO THE HOSPITAL ( 1 )

Fear engulfs me
Whenever I thnk
Of hospitals
Of what awaits me
Referred by my GP
To see a consultant
Not a routine visit
Fear engulfs me
When I near the
Hospital
My heart beats fast
Convinced myself
Is only to visit
To a consultant
Will have
A nice chat
Surprise! surprise
Pleasantly surprised
By how I
Was welcomed
My worry misplaced
I quietly said
Put my worry
To one side
Smiled broadly
Still shaking
Paper work & interview
Finished
But my agony continued
Never ended
Told to climb
On the bed
Strip to my waist
Here comes the
Consultant
Came nearer
Put on his gloves
Don't worry
He said
Easier said than done
I said( silently )
Will insert
My finger
Deep inside
Your backside
Might hurt a bit
No kidding
I said
Quietly I might add
Closed my eyes
Bit my lips
Gazed at the walls
Remembered God
I Prayed
Minute of acute pain
Elongated
Looked like an hour
Agony continued
Consultant came
With a torch
That blows air
Wished I didn't
Loose weight
I said
Quietly from
Inside
For I could
Have avoided
This pain
This embarassing test
Exposed me
To a female nurse
Saw the inside
Of my backside
Shame I said
When all was done
And dusted
Thanked God
The nurse and
The consultant
But all was not done
Referred to Endoscopy
Story for another day
Am ready but
Never know
What awaits
Could be
Agony & pain
And that might be
The agony of the day
