Moderation?

I haven't been on the site for ages so perhaps things have altered.
But, I posted a poem yesterday and also gave a few comments on pieces by others that I liked.
My poem went up OK but the comments received an odd message - it said that the posting had to go for moderation before it would be published.
Surely this is new.
I don't mind being 'moderated' of course, but I see that my comments still haven't appeared where they should. Have I done something wrong?
Can anyone explain, please?
