Girl on a Train - Film Review

The film makes excellent use of the book by Paula Hawkins. We keep the story word for word and the  cinematography proves it is now a film.  Not hard, we get shots from the train, shots of mysterious badness in the woods neart the tunnel, plenty of violent war between the sexes.

Girl on a Train is a good old-school suspense thriller and we get full value. There is more than one death, only one is accidental, more than one character is bed-hopping and when Megan's body is found - whodunnit?  Is it the girl with the alcoholic blackouts, is it the  possessive husband, is it the wife who will do anything to keep her man...

There are stereotypes aplenty in fact the story thrives on them. It's 'all about'  women whose life depends on whether they do or do not have babies - is it really such a feminine obsession and then of course the men are obsessed with who's the daddy. There is a sexy psychiatrist who comes close to breaking his boundaries ah but she leads him on. There are also a lot of posh American houses for our eyes to enjoy, interior porn sort of Ikea meets Habitat across the pond. Hey, I don't care.

Expect drama rather than depth and you will come away happy.
