Last night's terrorist attack
Posted by Ray Schaufeld on Sun, 04 Jun 2017
Horrible news again. I often feel that terrorists hold lefty-liberals like myself in even worse contempt than the hard right. When we say 'have what religion or non-belief you like and we don't care who owns the land provided we all have food and water and have whatever views you like provide you stick to words only' I am sure we are seen as being human toilet paper because they don't understand us. My thoughts are with the relatives of the 10 dead (yes that includes the families of the terrorists too) and with the living casualties and anyone else who has been affected by this latest monstrous and pointless attack.

the role of the state, going
the role of the state, going back to the divine right of kings, is to protect its citizens. There's nothnig lefty or liberal about that.
Yes, guarding the bridges
Yes, guarding the bridges over the Thames would be good. I understand it is going to happen.

Such waste of their lives,
Such waste of their lives, too, and living with such hatred is so damaging and robbing in itself. Rhiannon
Yes and often the terrorists
Yes and often the terrorists are young. Many of us do stupid things when we are young, sadly the violent wrongheadedness of these three men has led to loss of life, their own and the lives of others.
A lot of conversions to
A lot of conversions to terrorist jihad happen inside English prisons. I would like to see the issues brought into the open by prison staff and vigilance given to people who stir up terrorism particularly if the have a violent record. I also want to see a good prison aftercare service which organises accomodation, work or college and sport and leisure for recent ex-prisoners. Who will pay for this? Us, the taxpayer. But we will pay a lot more if we don't.
Thoughtful points, Elsie.
