Story and Poem of the Month

Our Story and Poem of the Month for September - very kindly chosen by onemorething:

Picks of the Month for September:

Happy to be doing this as it approaches my favourite time of the year. Am wishing all a cosy and writing-filled Autumn.

If you take an overview of the writing on this site over the course of a month, you can’t help but be struck by the sheer range of talent, story-telling and poeming, it’s a wonderful thing. So, thank you all for giving us so much to read and think about.

A great intro to Autumn from Caldwell here: https://www.abctales.com/story/caldwell/hello-autumn

September began with a poem by lenchenelf, a poet I admire very much. Moving again to read this poem again at the end of the month as it was at the start. You can read it here: https://www.abctales.com/story/lenchenelf/they-were-only-children

Another from lenchenelf, this month, that I loved: https://www.abctales.com/story/lenchenelf/mappari

Also loved Ewan’s toe-dipping here: https://www.abctales.com/story/ewan/toe-dipped-stream-self-consciousness

And, I thought queen beatle’s Paralysis was excellent.  https://www.abctales.com/story/queen-beatle/paralysis

But for our Poem of the Month, it’s queen beatle’s poem, Undertow. More wonderful use of language. Some great writing shared by this poet on the site throughout the month. https://www.abctales.com/story/queen-beatle/undertow

Firstly, where stories are concerned, I want to pay tribute to two writers who I enjoy for their diary-styled pieces. Never not brilliantly written, full of humour and they will always plant a smile on your face. Two examples from purplehaze and Turlough:

As for other things, well, I loved Peter Bennett’s Blunt Trauma…a brilliantly told tale. https://www.abctales.com/story/peter-bennett/blunt-trauma

This month, too, included some writing from Sean McNulty and his writing is always fantastic. https://www.abctales.com/story/sean-mcnulty/insect

Marandina’s Unleashed had me laughing and so happy to see another one of these. I would like to push for something involving sausages… https://www.abctales.com/story/marandina/unleashed

I found Harry C’s Tom Tom Turnaround charming and evocative as well. https://www.abctales.com/story/harryc/tom-tom-turnaround-1

Our Story of the Month, though, is Mitchell Jamal Franco’s Half Past the Monkey’s Moon which is just brilliant and we await more of it! https://www.abctales.com/story/mitchell-jamal-franco/half-past-monkeys-moon-relojando-cronicos

Thanks for all the fabulous writing here.
