Brideshead Revisited
This is the Rev. Pritchard's choice for the next meeting of the Come-to-Piddle Book-Reading Club. I've never read any Waugh. Any comments, abctalers ? Any Waugh afficionados among you ? In short, will I fall soundly asleep ?

Not a big fan of Brideshead, preferred Black Mischief and A Handful of Dust... i don't think he's boring, and in fact black mischief is really pretty funny. Ironic to the nth degree, but brideshead i think is too coloured by the tv series... mind you, anyone born after 1975 wont recall that. Are you on page three yet?
Ah yes, best chum...I'm old enough to recall the tv series but was on Army manouvers at the time, so able to read this text without visual prejudice...
Will offer thoughts when I finish. Next meeting of the Come-to-piddle Book Reading Club is March 16th...plenty of time to forge a critical response...

Have read Brideshead but wasn't really struck with it, was a chore more than something I enjoyed. However, A Handful of Dust is one of my favourite ever novels so I persevered, not that it proved entirely worth it. If I were you I'd sack Brideshead off, go straght onto A Handful of Dust and then read The Lucky One. As prejudiced bigots go, Waugh certainly had hiis moments as a writer.
