Funny you should say that Gilbert, because the ending of this - http://www.abctales.com/node/555436 is pure Carol Ann Duffy. I guess we all get inspiration somewhere. A nod to it doesnt hurt though.

I blush to admit, that as a would-be poet Gilbert, I hadn't heard of Liz Lochead and her 'empty song' until I read your comment. I looked her up on Google though and note she was born your side of the border. As cath carr says, we all get our inspirations from somewhere, mine come from my head and personal experience or in this particular case, that of my daughter - don't know where Liz's came from.
Maybe the similarity between the poem you wrote Gilbert, that cath carr sites and Carol Ann Duffy was inspired in the same way. Fortunately, life, experiences and inspiration from whatever source, aren't copyrighted. I should hate to live in a world where they were. Oh and long live Roget and his Thesaurus which is where a good bit of my inspiration comes from.

Today saw the last of my Spanish shampoo.
