I'm really not sure whether this is diary or writing but in any case CAHMS teams (NHS clinics) and quite a lot of private clinics have multidisciplinary teams because children only get medication as a last resort . This child should be thought about by a Child Psychiatrist working in a team.Developmentally children do have imaginary friends and believe in fairies but give it up at some point. It can become addictive and it can be a way of getting attention.Parents of a child in difficulities need guidance and support.
Best Wishes

Unfortunately, not a diary. We are getting back on the counciling train, but to be honest, it doesn't do much to make things better. We have a meeting at the school tomorrow, to discuss her increasingly peculiar behaviour. Thanks for taking an interest.
Counselling would not be enough.Proper therapy might be of help but she really needs to be looked at by a child psychiatrist. It still doesn't have to be early onset anything.Attachment disordered children can be very challenging. Children who experienced scary times may have their arousal levels set high.Family or parent work in parallel is also important. On the one hand it is tough to set safe boundaries when kids kick off so dramatically. It is also helpful to find some support that reduces anxiety in everyone around her.She may react to it.What she often seems to be telling you is how anxious and worried she is.So things we might feel are ordinary fill her with fear.If you label it as worry and say it to her you might both feel less scared by it.Think about how one can reduce states of worry.Anything from warm blankets and teddies to Paul Mckennas tapping routines.Getting someone to breathe more slowly when they are in a state is actually helpful.

We saw the psycholgist this morning. He wants one more appt, then he's going to refer her on - he wants to be sure that's what's needed. Bare in mind, this is the first time he's seen her in a year, and he spent the time getting a handle on the situation. I'll try your advice on helping her. Thanks Camilla.
