Not Exactly Copying

On November 14th I wrote a story that was going to be all about vampires.
But now Stepenie Meyer has made books avout them, I am worrie that if I continue this story people will say I have copied her work.
Shall I just delte my story and not carry on?

Yes, writing in the same genre isn't copying unless you ripped of specific elements of Meyer's characters or plots. I don't know Ms Meyer's work but to give an example, if she wrote about ninja potholing vampires who spend their evenings in Mayfair nightclubs drinking bloody marys (with real blood) and your book was about incontinent stamp-collecting vampires who break into offices in the evenings to photocopy grizzly pataches of their undead skin, then clearly you are not directly copying her, even though you may take inspiration from her work. jude "Cacoethes scribendi" http://www.judesworld.net

Ninja potholing vampires sound fun. I may have to be inspired by that :)
Better be quick blaster. I'm already working on a story about ninja potholing vampires who break into offices in the evenings to photocopy grizzly pataches of their undead skin.
sorry for that typo... should be patches of their undead skin and don't you dare Chuck! jude

Nobody accused JK Rowling of copying the Worst Witch series either...school for witches, Ms Hardbroom echoed in Snape, etcc... Jude, 'incontinent stamp-collecting vampires who break into offices in the evenings to photocopy grizzly patches of their undead skin'... are you working on this? Please write this! I'd love to read it!!! J x

why anyone would take inspiration from stephanie meyer, on the other hand, is beyond me...

Give me the beat boys and free my soul! I wanna getta lost in ya rock n' roll and drift away. Drift away...

....think of the money..... hehe J x
