Novel in progress

this was certainly a bit impenetrable to get into in parts, but no more so than other great americana road trip novels like fear and loathing and stuff by kerouac. at times it's tough to see whether speech is being reported or internalised, but i'm not sure whether this is due to the formatting it's been given by the page. the gimmick of having the unwholesome all-american rednecks as latter day superheroes is very clever, buying into the cult of the anti-hero we see in american folklore, anywhere from ghost of tom joad to the man with no name. i find similarities in the road theme between this chapter and an album by steve albini/big black, "songs about f*****g" which unfolds the story of a lay-by town populated by truck drivers and whores. the album has a conversation with a trucker on the inner sleeve which i think is bang on the personality you want for captain america. it's not exactly suitable for posting here, but i could scan it and send it along to you if you like. hope ive given any type of feedback that you wanted!
