National Poetry Day
have just realised it is National Poetry Day on the 4th of October ... have not noticed it approaching this year until now ...
what is happening ... on ABC or for people locally ...???
we have martin newell(?) (from the independent?) here in leicester doing some fast action poetry (what IS that?) ...
MY pussies birthday is on April 1st!
Fish
I wonder if there is enough time for the ABC team to arrange something. I am sure they could sort out a reading evening or similar. I'll read ( if they would let me).
Anyone else up for it?, and that includes you Fish.
Ralph
am always up for it ralph ...
Yes, we know.
But did he not mean the poetry thing?
*even more confused than usual*
I'm doing a (paid!) tour of Royal Deeside in the Mobile Library Van for Aberdeenshire Council. I'll be giving readings at stops along the way, including Balmoral, Ballater and Braemar (and everywhere else beginning with a 'B'). I will visit two Primary schools and read to the children.
Poor things.
Thanks to Ivory for advice on this.
I will issue a challenge to fellow Talers.
On National Poetry Day 1999 I did five readings in one day: in my work's canteen, at Ottakars, Waterstones, Aberdeen Central Library (paid!) and at Cellar 35. Anyone fancy going for six this year?
Eric
I did a reading once at Dillons in Convent Garden and got paid in Book Tokens.
Are they legal tender in Aberdeen?
Ralph
I'll pass your question on to Eric when I see him, Ralph.

Tony
Thanks for the info.
Cant wait to hear from Eric.
Are you related or just a spelling error?
Ralph
It's National Construction Week 2001 between 15/10 and 21/10 this year.
Perhaps we at ABC could use the opportunity to cement our relationships and create better storeys.
I'm aiming to wolf whistle from six different building sites this year. All unpaid.
Bob
ps all you deconstructionists out there will have to wait for demolition week.
pps we don't do reading
Hi,
Yep, we have been thinking about things to do on National Poetry Day but we've been concentrating on youngABCtales.com's launch until yesterday, hence the lack of news about it on the site.
We'll keep you updated with anything we're doing (also, watch out for details of the next ABCtales event which is currently being planned)
In the meantime, why not look out for good poems on the site to e-mail to your friends on National Poetry Day?
Cheers
Emily (currently on holiday for two days so apologies if any of you have e-mailed me in the last 24 hours - normal service will be resumed on Monday)
Rolf,
Me & Erc are just gud friend's.
Dear Eddie and Ralph
Thought for the day: Book tokens are legal tender in Aberdeen, but is any lawyer a soft touch? Eddie, the flyers for Peter Burnett's reading announced that it would take place at "Ottaker's". Is this a new rival for Ottakar's?
Dear Bob the Builder,
Does yer bum hang out of yer trousers, too?
Eric,
re: Ottercurs
I don't know - I didn't design the flyers.
Ask Ralph.
Andrea darlin, at my age everyfink angs out me trowsez nowdays.
I eard in amsters that they found some builders that hadn't moved for 3 weeks. so they made them into a bike rack.
ha ha, ha ha, ho ho
October 4th is World Animal Day and every animal's birthday, so let the lambs gambol, the pussies purr, the bow-wows yelp and the hamsters spin the wheel...we'll all be thinking of you, from the tiniest microbe ('Hey, I'm an animal too!') to the mighty herbivores ('Thump, thump!') chewing the cud and standing and staring on those noble pillar-like legs. Join me in wishing every creature on the planet Many Happy Returns!!
