An authors resume/cv

Hello there!

Wondered if anyone could help me. I've now decided to submit my novel to various agents (arhhh- i know) but when I look at what they require, they state they want an authors resume/cv. I just wondered whether I should do this like an employment cv or do a letter detailing my publishing credits and anything else relevant. & do they require a knowledge of your hobbies and the like? I've got my synopsis ready, got the manuscript typed out in double line spacing etc etc but am stuck with this aspect.
Help please...

I picked up a book of the genre in which I had written from my local library, read the author's splash on the book jacket and adapted it to my blurb. Short-sweet-to the point-not fancy and not revealing. Good luck, Mel

Hi Karen, Personally, I'd send the latter - a letter detailing your publishing credits etc. And I don't really imagine they're interested in your hobbies. I'd just keep it as short and to the point as possible. Hope that helps.

I think they probably want to know about your relevant writing experiences. A letter would seem to be the best way of letting them know. With your obvious talent you should be able to interest and charm them quite easily

oh thanx. I don't know about that - have you seen how difficult it is to break into that double bolted room? Have any of you tried to send off to agents/publishers yet? I've now sent my manuscript to quite a few people now but don't expect a response for quite awhile. Anyway, back to the writing!

By the way, Janus I think you've got loads of talent - your poetry, in particular, is brilliant. I can't write poetry (wish i could). x
