Your favourite Mr Men, man (or woman)

am i alone in loathing ALL mr. men/women? my kids were deprived of these horrible books ... and there was also a blanket ban on thomas the tank engine in this household too ...

I do hope that one day Mr Uppity, Mr Happy and Mr strong all board Thomas the tank engine's train and crash into a brick wall....ha! they would not be so Happy, Uperty or Strong then would they? Sorry...I'm one of my moods again....please forgive any spelling mistakes...

My Greedy and Mr Tickle always had the best stories, mr Tiny was also a dude... You can shove Mr Uperty though,,,crap character!

aaaaagghhh primate, suddenly found myself back at University sitting through a Philosophy of Mind (or was it Ethics) lecture, with a hangover for company, day dreaming about the boy with the scruffy clothes at the end of the row. hmmmm Mr Messy, you got a point there Linsi.

Right, I've just watched the Beeb news and all is now clear(ish). I have to be forgiven for my ignorance though, 'cos Mr Men et al were introduced in '71, which is the year I left the UK. I spent the next four or five years (approx) bumming around various deserts in Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia - not renowned for their abundance of Uk telly programmes. Half the time there was only a well in the middle of the courtyard to haul water from, never mind a telly. I spent a few years after that cruising in Spain and France - also not too hot on that sort of thing and, besides, I never watched tv anyway...still don't very often. They all look very cute, though... Am I forgiven? Thanks for the explanation, Primate - it was extremely enlightening...

Mr Impossible rocked - he was light purple, had a hat and did impossible things. Mr Sneeze was the coolest to draw, because he was all spiky. But the best has got to be Mr Noisy, who had top brogues (that were amazing fun to draw), he was bright red and shouted a lot - the way Arthur Lowe voiced this on the TV series was beyond compare. Mr Happy - dull, Mr Uppity - too posh. Mr Strong - dull and square. The illustration of sausages in Mr Greedy was awesome. I DID NOT like the two spooky guys in Mr Messy, "Mister Neat" and "Mister Tidy" who gave him a makeover against his will - even at a tender age, I could sense there was something Aryan and evil about this violation of Mr Messy's human rights. But - and Ivoryfishbone will know my views on this, Mr Small is the perfect book...

Mr Clipboard, he was really boring.

I liked Mr Psychopherapist, he was always going around accusing young men of being too fond of their mothers, and having murderous tendancies towards their father. I only saw this character in an Austrian translation of the `Mr Men`. " Mir Ist Herr Freud!"

Mr Baggyboxers he was fun. Used to jump out of a parachute only wearing his boxer shorts, what a hoot!

Sixty-six sizzling sausages - that's how many Mr. Greedy scoffed if memory serves. I'd like to be that one who was scared of everything, even leaves as in - it was nothing but a leaf, a little red leaf. Remember that? Can' t remember his name but somehow Mr. @!#$-Scared does not ring true. Mr. Messy was the easiest to draw - you just scribbled a lot.
