Being the laureate can't be
Being the laureate can't be easy, I'm guessing here. In 2009 she was commissioned to write a Christmas poem. She wrote her own '12 days of Christmas' and a lot of people hated it because they thought it was too angry. This poem is more what people would expect from the PL, being warmly likeable and accessibly literary. My favourite is Education for Leisure, her poem which was on the National Curriculum and then got banned.

I still really like
I still really like 'Valentine.'
So do I Vera
And esie's point about accessibility too. I like this Christmas poem a lot but it doesn't have the stick-it-to-em qualities of Havisham.
