Apostrophes
Few people on this site and elsewhere appear to know how to use the apostrophe. There are two contributions on this subject on the site. The first is an excellent wide-ranging piece by Jenn Thomas-Orr. It deals with many issues of "speling end gramer" the seckind is a mor moddist peece! bai yaws troolee;

Have a laugh!

What would you suggest that our group do, Eric? Tour the continent (including those of us who are not continent).
We could possibly give readings on the placement of apostrophes - I'll betcha a lot of people would want to come.
It'd be like the cemetery - everybody'd be dyin' to get in there.
You are absolutely right, Eric ... I just went to look at Jenn's piece. It was very good.
Now, I'm going to look at 'yaws troolee'.
Hoping, I won't be begging your pawdon, for the wait sir.
Oh, Eric, that is so funny - hilarious.
Well, I do agree with you and Jenn - improper punctuation and spelling in a piece is distracting.
I made an error in the post above - you might have noticed it.
I think it's important to be able to go back and see what errors you've made.
Well, here's a new story - on the pick of the day - another one on apostrophes ... the author is 'Kate'

Thanks, Carly!
...And well done, Kate! Would you all (Jenn, Kate, and Carly) like to join a gang, The Apostrophists? We would carry out midnight raids on offending shops, signs etc., defacing "potatoe's" and the like, and plastering the sites with thousands of little stickers summarising the rules pertaining to the apostrophe? ;-)
Warm wishes
Eric
