Text poetry website

Hi I got this mail and was wondering if any of you might be interested- janexxx
Dear Friend,

I am working on a project about text messages and poetry in everyday life. I need help collecting poems written using SMS. If you would like to be a part of the work you are welcome to send me a poem you have written.

The rules of the poem are simple:

The poem can be written using any letters, any symbols available on your mobile phone, any words (any shortcuts for example, ‘4’ to represent ‘for’ or ‘L8’ = ‘late’ etc.), any ‘emoticons’, and in any language (in which case, could you please send it to me via email along with a translation in English and a note of what the original language is). The only limit is the number of characters that you can use: please keep your poems down to 160 characters (including spaces and punctuation), though there is no limit on the number of characters in your English translation, if you decide to write it in another language. The poem can be in any form: a love poem to your partner, an ode to a Grecian Urn (if that makes you tick!), a eulogy, a simple message to meet up in a pub or a shopping list. As long as you think it is relevant. You can even forward special messages that other people have written to you and have been lying in your inbox for years, but make sure you get their approval first.

Once you have finished writing your poem:

Please could you send it to my phone on the number below, and then send another text with the title of the poem and your name (a first name only, is fine) and your age. If you would rather that I not have your phone number then please could you email it to the address below (in which case please ensure that you make an accurate word count, including spaces and punctuation).

Full copyright of the poem remains with you and I will contact you to ensure that you are happy for me to use it. Your name will appear alongside your poem and you will have full approval of all editing, if any is required.

I need as many poems as possible, please would you do me the great favour of forwarding this message on to as many people as you can, even if you decide not to write a poem yourself (though there is no reason not to; we all have a poet in our hearts). I apologise in advance, since my circle of friends is limited, that you may well receive this message a number of times, but I need as big a contribution as possible.

I am working on a way of archiving every single poem I receive. Ultimately

I would like to create a website where every single poem that I am sent is available to be viewed. If you have any questions or if you wish to be kept up-to-date on the details of the project, please email me.

Thank you for your time and help. I look forward to reading your poems.

You have to ask yourself why. It's a nice idea. And there is probably nothing below board about it, but I would suggest that members send their works of art by email, using an email account they reserve for spam. I don't know, I just have a feeling about this. Sorry for being a killjoy. iceman

Actually I cant text, I am absolute crap at texting. Noting the time I posted the comment, I withdraw it. Lunchtimes can be quite bizarre for me. I get all introspective and start seeing black where there's white. iceman
