Songs with dates in
Allied to Rokkit's post, I've been wondering if it would be possible to compile an album with songs that have years in their title? My start is:
1969 - Stooges
1977 - The Clash
78 Revolutions a minute - Stiff Little Fingers
1979 - Either Smashing Pumpkins or Meat Beat Manifesto
1984 - David Bowie
1985 - Manic Street Preachers
1999- Prince
Disco 2000 - Pulp
Any others?
the year of the cat
Is that a song? Sort of hippy-ish have it in my head but it might not be a cat it might be something else and I just sing the cat. Maybe it was Cat Stevens who sang it.
Need more tea am in post tramatic stress mode
in the year 2525
Didn't the Stooges do 1970 as well?
What were you doing in 1970 Justyn?
the oysterband did a song called "20th April" but I think it's a translated spanish song.
New York Mining Disaster 1941 - The Bee Gees (not forgetting Colin)
didn't bryan adams do a song, summer of 69?
The Sprit of 76 by The Alarm
I have had cake with some dates in.
1959 by The Sisters of Mercy ; )
Louisiana 1922 - Randy Newman
1812 Overture.
Nice tune, but I always forget the lyrics.
[%sig%]
millenium... does that count?
It was January, 1963, when Johnny came home, with a gift for me.
1963 - New Order (I always, always think that this is about the death of Kennedy, but though my American history is sketchy, I don't think it can be)
1990 time for the Guru - Guru Josh
Been to the year Three Thousand - Busted (one of only two songs I believe to name-check dates after 2000...)
(19)21 seconds to go - all about a group of frustrated dandys who couldn't find any spats and monocles in their favourite shop
(19)50 ways to leave your lover (drop off the key Lee, make a new plan Stan, hop on the bus Gus, Tarquin, erm you're staying put...)
96 tears
Truckloads of dance songs that had re-releases three or four years later with the name and then the year - specifically Felix, Don't you want my love, which has been rereleased about every three years since it was first out.
Afghan Whigs did a very sound album called 1965.
Ash's first album was called 1977
