Floating Brain -slbigelow

Thought I'd flag this up because I read it and liked it (maybe because i have a fascination with body parts in jars).

It would make a good poem, if tweaked. I suppose the main reason I liked it was the way it ended with the idea of the brain still thinking, even though it was suspended in a jar, disconnected from a body.

Thanks for the mention, fergal. I was pleasantly surprised at the cherry on this one, they are always a nice confidence boost to keep you going. It's interesting what you say about turning it into a poem, but not sure the best way to go about that....I will give it some thought and perhaps put up a Floating Brain pt. 2 :)
Re-reading it, I might have changed my mind about the poem thing.. I like it as a short short story. I think it deserved a cherry because it was succintly written, and had lots of ideas in it for something so short. I love that brain thinking... and I love the way it stayed on the desk... you said a lot without saying very much at all.
(I would be interested to see how you'd write it as a poem though if you do give it a go.)
yes, except that he had requested to have his brain kept alive without her knowledge, the doctors had also managed to save his eye. The wife was informed (I think at the reading of the will) and wreaked her revenge on him as you described, was in kiss kiss I think...(or could have been Henry sugar collection)
Kiss kiss. He wanted to retain control on her - I think, so she made her revenge. I'll need to go find the book now and reread. Henry Sugar was in Kiss Kiss as well. Does this help?
Once again thank you for the comments fergal...I was writing the essay about preschool that's in my collection, and thinking about memories from my school days in general...6th grade was truly a strange year.
