Old Filth - Jane Gardam

Read this book!

I read it last night when I went to bed and had to stay up to read it until the end.

I love Gardam's writing anyway, but this book is perfect.

It made me think, cry and laugh... and I really didn't think I would be that interested in a book about an 89 year old judge. She is probably one of the most unmentioned writers, although she's won the Whitbread twice, far better than Ishiguru and McEwan... She writes about what it is to be a human being with such insight and compassion, without ever being twee.

Genius.
