Going Native by CJ

Agh! I missed this when it was first posted. Just caught up...
Do go and give it a read if you haven't already - especially if, like me, you enjoy the science fiction of writers like Ray Bradbury. Though CJ's got very much her own voice. A surprising story, this. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

I agree this is worth a read and i enjoyed the sci-fi element. I also found the relationship to be realistic, and the dialogue spot on. However i did feel i wanted more of an explanation as to why Hannah needed the sea, was she a different life form to Tania? Why had she never craved water before? Why did she need the operation if she was so naturally in tune with the sea? One of things i enjoy about sci-fi is the rich world the author is able to credibly create, and IMO i just needed a little more. Juliet

Thank you kindly AB - much appreciated. And Juliet, thanks for your considered opinion, which has made me think! To answer your questions (and I am considering a re-write on the back of them), Hannah and Tania are both human Canadian city dwellers and this is the first time that Hannah has experienced swimming in warm sea - quite possibly *any* sea. She has the operation because without it she will always be tied to the land. After the operation she can have the best of both worlds, and can experience the underwater environment to the max. Thanks again.
