the Southbank Centre in London are hosting an Arvon Foundation Gala Reading on Saturday 1st November at 7.45pm at the Queen Elizabeth Hall with Andrew Motion and Moniza Alvi.
Moniza Alvi and Andrew Motion have chosen their favourite international poets to read alongside them at this special gala event. Moniza Alvi has invited Joan Margarit, a Catalan poet of international standing who grew up during the Spanish Civil War and her work is rich in historical detail. Andrew Motion has invited Ko Un, a Korean poet whose work covers an enormous range of styles and topics, but is chiefly characterised by his vernacular language and spontaneity.
