Baby Steps
I've been working hard on my poetry for the past couple of months, mainly for my own enjoyment and because I felt there were poems that I needed to write. A week ago I took the notion of submitting some of my work to an online lit and arts magazine, keen to hear the response of the editor and hoping for some constructive crit if possible.
So, I hummed and hawed and finally settled on my two poems 'Thoughts on the Clydeside' and 'Poets' Prophecy' - they seemed to best resemble other work that had been published by the site already. Off went my submission and, low and behold, a reply was waiting for me yesterday afternoon, neatly nestled amongst the daily heap of junkmail. The editor commended my work and has decided to publish both pieces this month!
It's nothing much, a baby step really, but it was enough for a small celebratory whiskey (at least in my books, anyway) and a lengthy writing session instead of essay work.
