Inspire me world

I was wondering about this as I was playing on my swing today...I'm such a baby :0) how does everyone else find their inspiration and does the work kind of get born as a whole finished piece...or does it emerge in dribs and drabs to be noted as you go along?

Mine just appear irregulaly and in no specific order...some come out the oven whole and some come out looking like a scantily topped pizza with big holes in the taste....

My poems seem to start with a line or an image. I have a general idea about where the poem is going, though there seems to be a point at which the thing takes over and writes itself..spooky...I keep a log book of phrases and images and so forth.

My wife, Kam, is my inspiration. Not only is she the reason that I wrote my book, because of her vivid imagination, but she’s the reason I get up every morning. She is there to give me ideas, critique my work, and encourage me to keep writing. This reminds me of a story Kam told me which I’d like to relate to you. Kam had the honor of meeting many famous people throughout her life, and amongst her favorites were Meredith Willson and his lovely second wife Rosemary. For those of you who don’t know Meredith Willson, he wrote wonderful music such as the score for MUSIC MAN. Kam was in awe of Meredith and his unforgettable talent and asked Rosemary what inspired this loveable man to write as he did. Rosemary confided that Meredith’s first wife, before her death, was his inspiration. He, like most creative and talented writers, needed inspiration too. Because he simply adored his wife, he built a bathroom that housed an office for him to write. When he would run out of ideas, he would have his wife fill the huge bathtub with warm water and bath bubbles. As she soaked in the bubble bath, Meredith sat at his desk in the same room, admiring the love of his life, and created his music. Isn’t that a beautiful story? Rosemary, wherever you are, please forgive me for sharing this beautiful story but the love it exudes deserves to be shared.

I must confess to having never heard of this 'famous' Willson chap but it seems to me that any guy who does office work whilst there's a naked woman in the bath several feet away ought to be seeing a therapist! And perhaps the said naked Lorelei is seeing someone else out of sheer frustration.

I too don't know of said musician. Though, I admit to thinking that is just such a romantic thing to do. True , most men would ask, "Why didn't he just jump on her bones?" I just love that notion of inspiration coming from the true love of your life. At the moment my inspiration comes from my feelings to and with my girlfriend.
