ages ago somebody posted a link for a site where you could put in artists you like and they put together a playlist of other sorts of people you would like too ...
i lost the link ... does anyone remember what it was?

I found this in the FAQ's:
Q: Why do you need to know my zip code?
At this time we are only licensed to offer Pandora music services to residents of the United States. Audio streaming regulations differ from country to country, and we are working on acquiring the proper licenses so we can legally offer Pandora outside of the United States. We require your zip code to confirm that you are a resident of the United States.
and it wasn't dan - i think mark brown originally posted the link (though it seems like something that could've come from dan), and I remember many people in the UK commenting on how great it was.
And it's possible that I'm confusing this with something else...

It was definitely pandora. I just used a US zip code and it worked fine from Poland. I only used it once though. I should give it another try.

I got an introductory go of it and then it cut me off and said I had to register to use the site full time. Then I found out I couldn't register because I lived outside the US. I really enjoyed the taster session, so I was very pissed off.

If they were serious about blocking non-US users, they could easily block you in other ways. It happens to me all the time on other sites.
