this a story of complexity woven together well. It's central theme is the relationhsip between father and son, and it hinges on an incident in the narrators childhood. It is subtle and the actions tell the story.

Crits: 3/4 the way down you seem to switch point of view into 2nd when it has been 1st - not sure if this is intentional or not, and it could work, but needs a bit more editing.

I felt some of the middle was too detailed particulary regarding his short career - i would cull some and keep tighter to the main story.

the ending didn't quite deliver for me - i want to know what he did, if anything at all.

An enjoyable read, well crafted.

Read this at lunch time and went away with it in my head all day - usually a good sign. Thought it was going to be a simple tramp's tale but took a twist fairly quick. I don't know why there was a change of POV and it just interrupted the reading for me. The ending? Hadn't thought about it, so guess it delivered for me. Overal, enjoyed it, a tale with surpirses lurking within.
