2008 nominees

President Nicolas Sarkozy of France I believe is the Man of the Year for 2008. He accomplished more than any leader has done this year particularly in getting involved and obviously a true negotiator who cut deals.

Yelena Isinbaeva – the gymnast from Russia is the Woman of the Year. She’s crowned many times with world class titles but it’s amazing that she did break her own pole vault record 24 times and five times consecutively this year.

President-elect Obama is perhaps the most popular person and could be TIME’s elect for the Man of the Year but not my choice. That election certainly has created records and could be the longest event of the year.
