When marketers greedy for quick bucks and chickens meet writers too scared to challenge lies, the truth about ordinary people with unlimited dreams becomes expendable. Faithfully, Jozef

I've sent off a couple of stories and received replys within minutes. That's the wonder of the Internet. Five years ago your work would have sat for months with a publisher or agent. Now you get replys within minutes. They're good books.

Sounds good. Need the money, coz I'm off to Japan to teach English, what a mug! Anyway, have a look at some of my ABC set and see if you like anything.

I've always wondered about these books -- my soul doesn't eat chicken soup. I'm not British, but if you ever do a title called, Chicken Soup for the Hopelessly Insane Soul, please contact me.

this reply is repeated over in the other discussion group;discuss writing i smell spam scam and sham, deep fried corn with caramelised publication fees as a side order. 30 million books in print? and can i imagine selling one of these books with my story in it? and how that blurb sounds so very british and not at all embedded with the gung ho idioms of american hard sell hysteria....tut tut. and that final desperate exhortation to imagine seeing your name in print, a familiar dangled ego-cookie just to get the suckers...sorry i mean writers..salivating...i wonder if this is a franchise....

andrea, my receding faith in this matter has a lot to do with actually reading the proposal offered...i cut and paste..." "With over 30 million "Chicken Soup®" books in print, this is an excellent opportunity ....for you to be able to sell the book with your story included!" "Also, you may know of someone else that has written a story that you could submit e.g already published. We will arrange to sort out the copyright issues should they exist." (IT DOESN'T MATTER WHO WROTE IT AS LONG AS YOU SUBMIT STUFF WHICH IS WHERE WE MAKE THE MONEY, HELL WE DON'T CARE IF YOU OWN THE COPYRIGHT, WE DON'T CARE IF YOU WROTE IT, WE DON'T CARE ABOUT THE SUBJECT, WE DON'T CARE IF IT'S BEEN PUBLISHED BEFORE, THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO WILL SEE THIS BOOK ARE THE FRIENDS AND FAMILY YOU SELL THE BOOKS TO, WHICH INCIDENTALLY TURNS OUT TO BE THE £200 PRIZE, OH AND WE WILL ASK YOU FOR A CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS THE PRINTING) What is a Chicken Soup Story ? (ITS STRAIGHT OUT OF A MARKETING SEMINAR) It is an inspirational, true story about ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Chicken Soup stories are personal and are filled with vivid images. In some stories, the reader feels that he or she is actually "there" in the scene with the people involved. Chicken Soup stories have heart... but also something extra...that element that makes us all feel more helpful, more connected, more thankful, more passionate, and better about life in general. Chicken Soup stories often end with a "punch"... creating emotion rather than talking about it. The stories should leave the reader with one or more of the following: Goosebumps or butterflies, heartfelt tears, an "aaaaah" feeling, a good belly laugh, or a more exalted reason to feel alive. (CHICKEN SOUP STORIES ARE GM FREE AND CONTAIN ONE THIRD OF THE DAILY REQUIREMENT OF NIACIN - WHATEVER THAT DOES) If your story is one of the 101 chosen, you will be paid £200 and have a short biography at the end of the book. (THATS 101 STORIES OF THREE TO SIX PAGES PLUS BIOGRAPHIES, AND 101 X £200 = £20, 000) Sorry but i can't keep a straight face when dealing with such obvious spam.
