i really like this, particularly the image of the newspaper in the door.

This one brought back memories of the time my wife and I were first married and we lived for the first 3 months at her mum and dad's house.
They were lovely to us and made me feel so at home, but her dad insisted on bringing us up a cup of tea each morning while we were still in bed. He'd give a soft knock on the door and then walk in - almost caught us in a compromising position a couple of times. Please note that he wasn't doing anything 'funny' - it was just his way.
Enjoyed the poem!
Thanks, Juliet.

This is lovely. Like Juliet, I really like the newspaper image, and the Father murdering the second verse over the sink. I think that whole first verse (Stanza? Section? My poetical jargon fails me...) works beautifully, images and rhythm and all...
Cheers, lib.
