Puss in Aladdin's Beanstalk
I told an American friend by e-mail that I was going to the village pantomime last night. Now she want's to know what a pantomime is. Where do I start? Help! And no dictionaries!
I had this problem with an American i know. I told him that a panto is basically a play based on popular children's stories like Dick Whittington and Cinderella, etc. It is usually a comic performance with traditional features like the panto horse, a dashing hero and a fairy godmother, etc, that lead to the downfall of the villian, usually in a humerous way.
Hope that helps.
I think we should elbow out these humerous pantomimes.

Ahhh! I get it now. Very funny. You've obviously been reading your Oscar Wilde again.
