Are you superstitious?

In my home town of Smallkirk it is considered to be bad luck if the town's mascot - Fergus the many tounged goat - eats your children.

Numbers i believe are a very important part in understanding life. A number is about the only thing that can be defined as having any existence in life. Every thing can be accounted in a numerical term thus the superstitions associated with numbers. The number three is probably the most meaningful number of all, making this year an important year in the worlds history, which can be seen fron the things that are happening in the world around us just now. Good or bad, who knows but one can be sure that when this number is present a lot of other things that the normal human (brain washed mind) can not understand is present and working around us. My own personal lucky number is 8 which is also my birthday and signifies 'for ever, which can be translated from the shape of the number; eg; the circle continues and is not broken. Numbers are what makes the world go round from the digits that programme pc and electronic devices and from the numbers that feed through cables enabling devices such as telephones and other communication possible, from the way we understand our solar system and the planets, every thing has a number. 'the one being'. As for the number thirteen as it contains the number three can be seen as having alot of spiritual meaning but whether this can be taken as a meaning of bad luck is an altogether different story as numereolgy usually can define only one number thus there would have to be an equation in the number 13 to define it in to one number, meaning that in the bigger picture the number 13 is not recognised. Am i waffling a lot of hocus pocus, who knows, maybe i am maybe i am not.

I'm not superstitious at all. Except on Wednesdays, because of the bogey men.

I don't think of myself as superstitious but then find myself not stepping on the lines in the pavement all the time. I think I'll fall down the holes and get eaten by the bears. I'm also ridiculously even in much that I do. I pat my right hand with my left - and then have to pat my left hand with my right etc. This can go to silly lengths. Oops - don't think I've admitted this to anyone before - maybe it'll be a catharsis and I'll get over it.

Tony don't think you will quickly live that one down in your place of business and maybe a few others as well...

I am very!! superstitious about things to numerous to mention always have been and am not likely to give up now...

I love no 13. My house is 13, though I've lived in two no 55's. I enjoy prime numbers as you feel that they belong to you, not like say 48 or 15 which are a bit everyday. 8 though even is a special number, a fantastic shape and something you could think about when bored. There is a ritual in hypnotherapy where you imagine you're sitting in one half of an eight and the person who's bugging you emotionally (like a parent) sits in the other. You imagine both of you being happy and relaxed and then take an implement (mine was hedge clippers and the no 8 was made from privet bush) and sever the bit which joins the two circles of the 8.

then do you kill each other with the hedge clippers or learn to live in eternal harmony?

Tony the thing about not stepping on lines or say if you had to touch every fourth lamp-post on a particular street is not really superstitious so much as obsessive. You need to stand on your head for 4 minutes on Wednesdays and keep a stripey pebble in your pocket .

Tony, sounds like my University boyfriend. When washing his hands he always had to cover in soap and rinse 10 times exactly, not 9 or 11. I caught him counting and thought he was mad but there was no stopping it. When using public toilets he would sometimes have to use the ladies rather than the gents because apparently there was more often soap to be found in the ladies. Mind you, I crossed my fingers a few times when watching Wimbledon for an important shot of the player of my choice - it worked quite a lot of the time you know!!! (yeah, right).

Greek sounds better than geek Nicoletta. Anyhow about the no 8 ritual, once you sever the bond thing in the middle you're supposed to feel comfortably detached from whoever was bugging you, and I must say it worked for me. Perhaps because I believed it would, and I consciously chose to do the snipping ; I knew that I was going to be asked to do that beforehand. On an emotional level I mean, I don't believe in the doing harm from a distance stuff.

I loved that Greek writing. Language is not a barrier. Condoms are a barrier. But language isn't.
