What's the best way to go about it?
Normal procedure, sending to the publishers, etc, etc-- or do I go big guns and try to get into some kind of anthology or collection.
Thoughts, tips, all appreciated,
Ursula
Hi Ursula,
My instinct tells me that you've chosen one of the more difficult pieces of work to find a home for. (All work is hard.) If you're referring to a novella, (rather than a noveletta in the musical sense,) then it's longer than a short story and shorter than a novel. Short stories used to be serialised in newspapers and magazines, like the Strand. Today you sometimes find them in Country Life, the Lady and the Reader's Digest. But the market for them has all but completely dwindled. Some websites, including this one, have magazines which publish stories. But I don't see how they could accommodate one which took up more space than their entire edition.
So, once again, my instinct would be telling me to look at the publishing space available and write a suitably long, or short, piece for that publication, rather than write and then seek a literary home.
Whatever you decide to do I wish you well.
Kind regards,
Pat

Thanks, I suppose that I was referring to a novella, though novelleta seemed to fit nicely and I had no idea that it had anything to do with music :)
I think it seems a shame to write for the market, I'd rather write and hit it lucky, but then that's just me.
Thanks again
Ursula
