Ideas for presents for writers - suggestions?

Bit of a random question but I have a friend who is writing her novel at the moment and her birthday is coming up - the big 4-0. I'd like to get her a writing related present but I'm stuck for ideas. Don't have loads of money so something between a biro and a new computer. Probably closer to the biro. Any ideas?

Thanks

Well if she's writing a novel how about this powerful memory stick to back up her work? http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/data-storage/portable-usb-memory-sticks/po...(link is external) Practicality, usefulness and relevance all rolled into one neat little package!

Something to inspire them, perhaps; art or music or a hot air balloon trip.
I'd get her a nice fountain pen. So she'd have something nice for writing her autograph. When I told my son I was writing a lot of my stuff in long hand, he went out one Christmas and bought me this great pen. I treasure the damn thing. Good luck, Alex. Rich

Alex---write a short short story on why she makes you smile, then frame it. Richard

Thanks very much everyone, all great ideas. I will have a think. I'd love to write a story for her birthday but I'm not sure I'm up to the task! Too much pressure on it maybe?
Rise to the challenge Alex. That's a great idea Richard contributed.

new alex_tomlin Hi! You mention biro, chemist near us, sells £1 pens short, and glitter but only thing don't last long! all colours. You could make your own quick poem up,pop a photo in. Write about her, into a frame! there you are. Richard L.Prov.. is better smile why! if know her well, food, her ways, interests anything. Good luck! Fountain pens expensive. Write her 'These Are My 'Favourite Things'song says it all. julie
Give me a notebook any time.

Sorry Alex_Tomlin I dont really have any other good ideas, above are far better than I can come up with at the moment, however I always try to buy what I know people may like or are interested in and something that may make them smile. It really depends I feel on the person themselves, because all though she's writing a novel, may she like something else, But regards to writing ideas, maybe locate her first page (draft)of her novel she is doing and put it in a frame with a date she did it/or any date you think she will like, something like that, which is sentimental and does not cost an arm and a leg. Sorry not more helpful. Good Luck :)
