Teachers' TV writing competition

Teaching and writing have long been close professions. From DH Lawrence to JK Rowling (who taught English as a foreign language in Portugal) writers have had one foot in the classroom.

Following the success of Staffroom Monologues 2007, Teachers TV (link is external) has announced their national competition in association with the National Union of Teachers to find the best screenwriters of the staffroom.

School staff who are budding screenwriters or simply have an interesting story to tell can win the chance of having their script performed by a well-known actor for a special Teachers TV series, Staffroom Monologues.

As part of their prize, five winning writers will be invited to see their monologue being filmed or recorded for broadcast by Teachers TV later in the year.

The deadline for entries is midnight on 25 March 2008.
