Writing in Water
I’ve just finished Micheal Chabon’s ‘The Wonder Boys’ which I really enjoyed (the movie’s pretty damn fine too). The narrator, a successful writer having difficulty finishing his latest book, discusses ‘writing in water’, a term he uses for all those times you create sentences, paragraphs, whole story lines in your mind but which you never get down on paper.
It’s something I do all the time; lines of literary genius that fall apart somewhere between brain fibre and fibre-tip.
Anyone else?
Yep - particularly after a couple of drinks!
I thought only boys could do that.
I masticate the words in the bath a lot.
It's not illegal.
